The graph below shows how the prices of selected Canon and Nikon camera bodies are changing over time. I simply track the best prices I can find amongst those retailers advertising in Amateur Photographer magazine, providing there is reason to suppose that the retailer actually has stock of the item.
Where the manufacturer offers "cash back" vouchers which don't require purchase of something else, the price tracked includes the effect of the cash back. Because of this, the price can jump upwards when the cash back offer ends.
For new models, the initial price plotted is the manufacturer's recommended retail price. This is usually plotted before stocks of the camera are actually available in the UK.
